Sunflower Broadband Wireless is Here!
Wireless, high-speed Internet access is now available at over ten Hot Spot locations in Lawrence through Sunflower Broadband.
Using 802.11b technology, also called "Wi-Fi", you can now get the reliability and blazing speeds of Sunflower Broadband High-Speed Internet service without the hassle of wires or getting "plugged in."
How To Know If You're Ready For Wireless:
Most handheld computers, laptops and PDA's manufactured since 2002 have either 1) a place for you to add a wireless component (sometimes called a "wireless card") or 2) the wireless component already embedded in your computer. If you're not sure if you have this component in your device, you can check with the manufacturer or the retailer where you purchased your device.
To configure your device please see our user guides.
What's a "Hot Spot"?
It's really pretty simple: A Hot Spot is a wireless access point that spans approximately 500 feet in all directions. Our Hot Spot partners are businesses located in some very convenient locations around Lawrence, and we're adding more every week.
How the Hot Spot card works
All you need is your laptop or Pocket PC and a "Wi-Fi" card. Then go to one of the Hot Spots and enjoy the freedom of being connected to the Internet WITHOUT wires!
