Does Sunflower Broadband collect and use personally identifiable information regarding my account and services?

WorldNet, L.L.C. CPNI Policies

WorldNet, L.L.C. (“WorldNet”), an affiliated company of Sunflower Broadband, owns and operates the equipment that provides your telephone services. Under contractual arrangements, the telephone services are branded as Sunflower Broadband and supported by the same knowledgeable and trustworthy customer service representatives and technicians. WorldNet is committed to maintaining your privacy as one of our phone services subscribers. Both WorldNet and Sunflower employees follow the federal and state rules and regulations that apply to our business.

What is Customer Proprietary Information (“CPNI”)?

In the normal course of providing telephone service, WorldNet collects and maintains certain information about customer accounts. This information, when matched to a customer's name, address and telephone number, is defined as CPNI. Examples of CPNI include the type of services to which you subscribe, telephone charges, local and long distance billing records and other usage information. Under federal law, you have the right, and we have the duty, to protect the confidentiality of your CPNI. CPNI does not include your name, address or telephone number that is provided to directory publishers unless you request a non-published or non-listed telephone number.

How is CPNI used?

CPNI is used to provide you with accurate and complete billing information. We NEVER disclose or sell CPNI to unaffiliated third parties and take very serious our responsibility to protect your privacy.

WorldNet may use CPNI without your permission to furnish and configure services, bill for services, confirm that services that have been properly billed, manage the network supporting your services, and protect the right of the company or other users from any fraudulent, abusive or unlawful use of service. Under certain circumstances, CPNI can also be used to provide you with promotions and service offerings that will give you added value and save you money on your monthly bill. The Federal Communication Commission (“FCC”) provides us with several methods of customer notification regarding CPNI.

How do I grant permission for CPNI use?

Every two years, you will receive a message with your telephone bill notifying you that we may use your CPNI to market additional communications-related services provided by WorldNet. These include local and long distance service, features such as Caller ID, Call Waiting and Call Forwarding, and various calling packages. You may notify us within 30 days of receiving the notification if you do not wish for us to use you CPNI to provide you with special communications offers and promotions.

This notification allowing you to opt-out of CPNI use does not apply to marketing other services that Sunflower Broadband provides, such as high-speed Internet and video services. We need your written or oral permission to access your telephone records to see what values we can provide when the services are combined with either cable or Internet services, or both. There are two ways which you may provide this permission, as described below.

  1. One-time Notification: Any time that our customer service or marketing representatives need to access your CPNI for the purposes of providing you information on new products or promotions, you will be asked for permission to do so. Your oral permission will be noted on your account and is valid for one time only. You will be asked for permission each time you are on the phone with our representatives.

  2. On-going Opt-In Approval: If you do not wish to hear the one-time notification each time you call, you may grant on-going authority for access. This approval remains valid until you choose to restrict access by informing us that you no longer wish to allow on-going access. Opt-in approval does not mean that your records are looked at unnecessarily or disclosed to anyone outside of the company. We maintain strict policies regarding your information and hold every employee accountable for the confidentiality of your records. The advantage of providing opt-in approval is to allow us to serve you better by providing better package deals, promotions and value for your money.
