Does Sunflower Broadband collect and use personally identifiable information regarding my account and services?
The following notice is provided to our customers every two years per FCC requirements. The notice states Sunflower Broadband's commitment to safeguard and maintain strict privacy standards to your customer account information.
Important Notice Regarding Your Sunflower Broadband Communication Services
Your telephone services are provided by WorldNet, L.L.C. ("WorldNet"), an affiliated company of Sunflower Broadband. Branded as Sunflower Broadband, the telecommunications services are marketed and supported by the same customer service representatives for Sunflower Broadband's cable and Internet services.
In the normal course of providing telephone service, WorldNet maintains certain information about customer accounts. This information, known as Customer Proprietary Network Information ("CPNI"), includes information typically available from details on your monthly bill, including the types of products and services in use, calling patterns, local service and long distance billing records. CPNI does not include your name, address or telephone number which is considered public information for the purposes of publishing telephone directories.
WorldNet is committed to protecting the privacy of our customers. You can be assured that WorldNet never provides or sells your account information to unaffiliated third parties. Under federal law, you have the right, and we have the duty, to protect the confidentiality of your CPNI. The main concerns behind the CPNI law and regulations are to prevent disclosure of private information to unauthorized individuals ( particularly "pretexters" who in a fraudulent manner represent themselves as a customer to obtain detailed calling or viewing records ) and to prevent the use of CPNI for unauthorized marketing purposes. Federal Communication Commission ("FCC") requires telecommunications companies to provide customers our CPNI policies every two years.
In the normal course of providing telephone service, WorldNet may access CPNI to provide you with meaningful and relevant products and services. The information is used by Sunflower Broadband customer service representatives to promote new or additional service offers designed to save you time, money, or both. We do this because we value our customer-provider relationship and consider it a privilege and responsibility to offer you new and enhanced service, while at the same time respecting your privacy.
This notice constitutes your approval for our trained and trusted company representatives to access your CPNI for purpose of marketing other communications-related services. You have the right under federal law to deny our access and use of CPNI. Denying consent will not affect your services, but you will limit our ability to inform you of special offers, packages, and new services that might better suit your needs. You may deny use of CPNI by calling our customer service department at 1-800-869-1214 or 785-841-2100. You may also visit our website at www.sunflowerbroadband.com for more information.
New Changes to Policy in Obtaining Call Detail Records or Accessing "My Broadband" Online
Sunflower Broadband uses all reasonable measures to protect against attempts for anyone to obtain unauthorized access to CPNI. Therefore, you will be asked to properly authenticate your identity before disclosing CPNI during telephone calls, online access or a visit to one of our customer care centers. For example, customers who have asked about specific call detail information ( the number called, and the time, location and duration of the call ) have been required to present verification of identity or have been provided the requested information through a mailing to the account address or a return phone call to the account telephone number. Sunflower Broadband is implementing a new verification process to make telephone call inquiries to our customer care centers easier and also provide an identify authentication method.
Beginning August 1, customer invoices will include a PIN ( Personal Identification Number ). This number will be your identification method when requesting information that is classified as CPNI. By providing the PIN, our Customer Care Advocates will be able to assist you over the phone by answering questions when you request private information. Without the PIN authorization, detailed CPNI information will continue to be sent by returning a telephone call to your home phone or sending it via direct mail. You will have the opportunity to opt-out of the printed PIN on your invoice by calling our customer care department at 1-800-869-1214 or 785-841-2100. You may also visit our website at http://www.sunflowerbroadband.com to complete an opt-out notification.
